Rolwaling Trek
Rolwaling valley is located along Nepal-China (Tibet) border, sandwiched between two famous trekking regions of Nepal: Everest and Langtang. Regarded as a sacred valley, locals believe that the valley was created by Guru Rinpoche or Padmasambhava as a peaceful area for all sentient beings.

It is one of the least touristic trekking regions, where special permits are required for visitors to trek. There are mainly three trekking routes into Rolwaling Valley: Rolwaling Trek and Tashi Labtsa Pass trek.
Rolwaling Himal range which rises from the valley as a towering entity stretches from Nepal to Tibet. The Himal range consists of more than 50 peaks that are over 6000m- the most prominent ones include the highest peak Gauri Shankar (7134m) which lies in Nepal and Melungtse (7181m) and Melungtse II (7023m) both in Tibet. Rolwaling is a wilderness area which still hasn’t been explored much. The legendary tales of the abominable snowman, known as the Yeti, still haunt the imagination of climbers and trekkers. In fact it was on the slope of Rolwaling Peak itself that the famous British mountaineer, Eric Shipton first photographed Yeti footprints. Trekking in Rolwaling Valley allows you to visit the impressive Tsho Rolpa (4540m), one of the biggest glacial lakes in Nepal. Located at an altitude of 4,580 metres (15,030 ft) Tsho Rolpa is the source of water fro Koshi Rivers.
Tashi Labtsa Pass at 5755m is one of the highest passes you will cross in this trek. The pass provides splendid views of Gauri Shankar, Melugtse, Tengi Ragi Tau (6943m), Bisphero Go Shar (6729m), Dragkar Go (6793m). Once you cross the Tashi Labtsa pass (5755m) you can descend down to Namche Bazaar and exit via Sagarmatha region.
The trekking trail offers spectacular views of not just Rolwaling Himal ranges but also Everest ranges such as Everest (8848m) Mt Lhotse( 8560m), Mt Makalu (8400m), Mt Cho Oyu (8200m) etc. Much of the trial passes through green forests teeming with wildlife such as Red Panda and Snow Leopard. The unique traditional villages, farmed terraces and culture of Sherpa and Tamang people will be equally mesmerizing. Jagat, Simigaon, Beding, Na, Shakpa, Manthali are some of the villages you will come across.
